RESEARCH- Structure of film opening

DIFFERENT TYPES OF STURCTURE OF A FILM OPENING

  • The most common is a narrative opening where characters are shown, maybe talking and gives a idea of the story line- the titles run throughout the opening either ontop of or cut into
  • A discrete title sequence where there are many  shots and close up images used mainly of props or character and therefore gives very little away. However is not part of the narrative.
  • Some may start with titles over a black screen, at the centre, that lead into the opening of the film
